Flag Football

Notice the color of his mouth guard. At one practice he got bumped pretty hard. When the coach got to him he was already bleeding and the coach asked where's your mouth guard. Dylan opened a little further and then the coach realized that the "blood" he was seeing was really a red mouth guard. Whew, a bloody nose and a cut lip are one thing but at least his whole mouth wasn't bloody as the coach had thought at first.

He mopped up the blood and as soon as his nose quit bleeding he was back out on the field.

The other team ran this play 2 times in a row, both times Dylan (in the orange beanie with his back to the camera) pulled his flags.

his third tackle today. He sure looked small out there sometimes.

Finally an offensive play. He was so excited.

Dylan decided to play Flag Football this year with the same group of boys that he's played baseball with the past 2 years. He's had a steep learning curve as most of them have played a few seasons already, but he worked hard and did great. Most of the time he played corner back and sometimes safety. The team went 8-0 for the season! This was a 3rd/4th grade age group and his whole team was 3rd graders. They even beat a team that was all 4th graders and who were all at least a head taller than everyone on Dylan's team. Here are some pictures from his last game. He got 3 tackles the most he's gotten in 1 game and the last play he got to be the one to hike the ball. For the most part he played defense, but there were a few times they would switch things up and put him on offense when we were really creaming the other team. Today was cold and I think we are all thankful the season is over. Baseball starts in January and he will be with the same group of kids again. Hopefully we practice inside until it gets a little warmer.
